Angels, buttons and soft pastels grace a shelf in Ann Elias‘s garden
Sue Gerdes, of Flea2Fab, says her garden angel is made from a glass bottle on a rod, with Star of David relish dishes for wings and a votive holder, upended, for a crowned head.
Supplies needed:
1 Rectangle bottle
2 Oblong relish dishes
Glass votive holder, round or crown shaped
GE II silicone clear Premium Waterproof
1 Metal or wooden rod
Louise Yunck says, “Inspired by Myra Glandon, I finally made a garden angel. The wings are the drop leaf from a old table that had been my mom’s. It was falling apart. The arms are from a rocking chair that was on in the trash. I planned to use the rockers, but they were too long for my shutters. So I used the arms. Later, I want to add a pin of my Mom’s. Of course, I still need a large shutter so that I can use the rockers! This piece just makes me smile.”

Mary Everett says, “Here’s my garden angel, I made today. I realized the driftwood piece found on the beach was the perfect shape for wings. Found a board for the body in hubby’s scrap pile, and the pots were from yard sales. I can’t resist clay pots!”

One of our gardeners says, “We lost my mother in law ten years ago to cancer..unfortunately. I remembered how much she had loved angels… matter of fact we had gotten her one as a gift for her backyard in the last year of her life. Since then I have made gardens in my own backyard here. I started buying an angel once a year to add to my collection in memory of her.. so there are little angels of different sorts..running throughout my gardens out back.
AdvertisementA year or so ago.. my father law.. surprised me and touched my heart..when he told me to go get her angel..the one we had given to her before she passed.. from his old home..which his son now has.. and take it home to my gardens .. it deserved to be seen and she deserved to be remembered. I love that garden..it wraps three sides of my stone patio…. with angels everywhere.. including that particular one. I find such comfort and so many memories sitting out back in that garden and I am so glad that I made it to remember a terrific lady.”
Mary Everett says, “Who says gardening angels have to be thin as a board? Here’s my “pleasingly plump” angel. She may never get off the ground with those wings, but she seems happy enough. She is also an “accidental” angel. I had painted the bowling ball for another project and set it on the strawberry planter when I realized I like this better. Scrap of screening for wings.”
Nell Stelzer says, “I want to thank Mary Everett for giving the idea and inspiration for yet another bowling ball project! My sis in law gave me her bowling ball about 2 months ago. I had been thinking of how I would use it, then Mary Everett posted her BB Garden Angel and that was all it took!! Here is my version, I used Rustoleum Satin Cinnamon color paint, it looks like terra cotta. The grapevine was growing wild in a shrub that I had not cleaned out yet. I used some of my creeping sedum and a moss rose to fill the openings.”
Nell says, “The wings are a sheet of aluminum that my husband found for me. I trimmed with tin snips ,painted and inserted in the back of the pot in an opening. I may make another set these are not so good.

Can I buy the glass angel made from old dishes by Gerdes
I believe these are single art projects made for each garden artist's home garden, Judy. They are easy enough to make if you search out the glass pieces. I hope you try!
