Vintage Airstream on The Slow Coast

Flea Markets and Junk Shops

“In Slow We Trust”

Davenport, CA.  On a trip down the California Coast highway, on a trip I called the Chowder Chase,  I stopped short at this spot,…but when on a road trip, who can resist a hand-painted Farm Stand sign?

‘The Slow Coast’ covers the fifty mile stretch of road between Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz on Highway 1 in California.. Its motto: “In Slow We Trust.”

A vintage flea market farm stand in an quaint Airstream trailer cannot be resisted! At Swanton Berry Farm,  you can pick your own organic strawberries and browse local artists’ wares across the lawn at the Slow Coast General Store, formerly a vintage 1954 Airstream.

In the general store are the food and art items, Flowers, cheese,…this day, artichokes, celery and of course,…strawberries!

In and around the vintage Airstream was vintage clothing like these cozy flannel shirts and hand-sewn tte and shopping bags.  A map of the Slow Coast is drawn on a tall blackboard.
Inside are collectibles, seaglass and handcrafted treasures and outside, second-hand and carpenter-built furniture.
Sweets and berries, all self serve and paid on the honor system, of course.
The Airstream sits alongside the packing house of the berry farm. This was a delightful stop at a very cool spot,…
Bonus!  Further down, we spotted The Good Flea,…a very friendly thrift shop in Morro Bay, with lots of vintage clothing, glassware and recycled chairs and furniture. We visited this shop many times since this discovery.
