Colleen,…if they are very deep you can lay in a thick layer of gravel, but I just poke holes in the soft metal….it’s easy!

I buy them at the local Tractor Supply because their prices are great. Most of mine are new, although I do have an old washtub that was up on legs for a few years–they finally rusted off but it still works well for a planter. I love it so much that I’ve transitioned many of my raised veggie beds into galvanized tubs and trash cans. They’re MUCH easier to tend and I can haul them inside a shelter over the winter.
