Even this late in the Fall season? Yes! We love the vibrancy of early Fall flowers and these are our favs at Flea Market Gardening. Here are Chartreuse Pineapple sage and Rudbeckia ‘Cherokee Sunset’ from my California garden that make a great combination and were planted from 4 ” pots early in summer.
Both bloom until mid-Autumn or until the first frost, but I grow Pineapple sage for two reasons,…the color of the leaves and that the deer don’t like it! It has red spiky flowers, pretty insignificant compared to the foliage. And the ‘Cherokee Sunset?’ Spectacular!
Lori Conley “A bumblebee ‘sleeping’ on my pink mums, they come active when the sunshine warms their little bodies.”
Arlene Brenneman “Gaillardia “arizona sun” still blooming. It’s one of my favorites as it blooms continuously all summer & fall. This was my first year to plant foxglove and it has impressed me by doing the same.”
Linda Steinke “My impatiens are still blooming their hearts out. Hate to see them go.”
Christy Morrow “The garden looked better than ever and still looks good even for October. Here’s a very small piece of it taken this summer. I grow both plants you mention above. The Pineapple Sage is still blooming but my Rudbeckia are done blooming around the first of September. Of course I save the Rudbeckia seeds!”
The Chirping Frog “This rose and butterfly bush are loving the cooler weather… they’ve really taken off..”
Sheila Harvey “I still have lots of pretty flowers here in Vilonia AR! Always have mixed feelings at this time year…love fall but hate to see summer end!”
Marie Niemann “A few Nasturtiums and Sweet Alyssum still hanging in here in Northern Utah”
Karen Amacher “Still blooming in New York”
Karen Walther “Asters, canna, dahlias, zinnia, spider plant, salvia, daylily, …” Christine Wuest “My pineapple sage just started a couple of weeks ago.” Sylvia Gorton “Perennial Flocks,Perennial Sunflowers,Sedum….”
