Halloween Garden Party, Flea Market Style!

Spooky and glamorous,…and fun!

The air is getting crisper at night, which means Halloween is near….but far enough away so YOU can plan your own Halloween themed party,…our style!  It was Myra Glandon’s daughter’s 40th birthday and Angela wanted to have a witch-themed party. “We tried to do inexpensively, but nice, Myra says.”

The Birthday witch Angela and her black cat Kaylee, also voted cutest witch

Angela Stevens gave us the scoop! “It was a fun party all repurposed and in my moms garden.” Angela says, “At first people thought I was crazy, but now they are begging for another! Other than food I’d bet we had well under $100 in entire party….probably closer to $50.” The ‘pinspired’ chalkboard sign made by her friend, photographer Jennifer Robinson.

Party Greeter

This guy had too much to drink at tonights party

“Funny…and so unexpected!” the guests said about the unusual decorations in the tipsy buckets as they entered the party.  Angela says, “I liked to think he’s like the Brad Paisley song ” waiting on a woman.”  Other comments were “Looks like this person went over board with his bucket list,” “must have spilled his guts…” “Tipsy Bones,” “I ain’t got no body,” and “Heeeeere’s Johnny!”

We hung jars in the trees with votive candles

“Here’s a great idea to add some ambiance. We hung jars in the trees with votive candles,” Myra says. Paint glass bottles black and add a candle….

Spooky table settings

A long table was set with a white sheet tablecloth and a one foot wide roll of black gauze placed down the middle.

For the table centerpieces, bottles, all sizes and shapes, were found at thrift shops, gathered up on newspaper and spray-painted black. White candles were set in each and set out in the center of the table, set with black plates and ‘goblets.’

Dollar store skulls and emergency candles were wrapped in thrift store lace tied with jute ties.

The ‘fun table’ for sure!

Most guests in attendance wore costumes created from repurposed thrift store clothing.

Costume contest rosettes

All the prizes were handmade by Angela a folk artist …each prize was in a gift bag lined with tissue paper ….these scrap paper rosettes were then attached to each bags handle.

The Prizes! Most of Angela’s creations are made from repurposed fabrics that have been given to her, found at yard sales, thrift stores or old clothing
