Jeanie Merritt’s easy project requires the simplest of tools and makes a unique decoration that can be used year after year to add a holiday look to a garden gate, door or window. Here’s how she did it:
Jeanie says, “Look what I am hanging on my wooden gate tomorrow…A friend made part of it..and I assembled the rest…It involves a piece of wood…three spike nails,…greenery…. a few berries and a pop can pull tab… Red delicious apples, and some ribbon…..
“My friend installed the screws, but I put a wire hanger on the back so I could hang from my front door…He fixed it, though, so you could screw it into a wooded flat surface as well…such as a shed door..”
“See how he drove the spikes in the board at an angle so it would hold the apples? For safety, you can bet I will keep it stored up high when not in use…”

So pretty, love this idea! Unfortunately for me, the squirrels around me would love it too - and destroy it in seconds!
