Get ready to journey into the huge world of growing small!

The next garden trend combines the joy of gardening with the magic of miniatures. Gardening in Miniature is a complete guide to creating lush, living, small-scale gardens. It has everything you need to pick up this new hobby, including scaled down garden designs, techniques for creating tiny hardscapes, miniature garden care and maintenance, tips on choosing containers, how to buy the right plants, and where to find life-like accessories. Inspiring step-by-step projects feature basic skills that can be recreated in any number of designs, like a tiny patio, a trellis, a pond, and a secret garden.

Whether you want to build a miniature empire in your garden bed or design a private garden with a pebble patio for an indoor centerpiece, Gardening in Miniature is the primer for creating your own tiny, living world.

See this short video!

This book is a must-have because it’s filled with examples, ideas, how to projects and lists of small sized plants to use.  There’s a whole chapter on projects, creating tiny patios, pathways and dry creek beds.

There’s an important chapter on scale. Common scale for fairy gardens is 1 inch per foot, in other words a fairy house of 11 inches, would be in scale with a fairy that was 5 inches high.  A full sized house is 11 feet high and a normal sized person is 5 feet or so.  Using scale is an interesting aspect when combining many accessories, so you don’t get a huge fairy next to a tiny house!

Tip on Scale:

  • Large 1 inch to 1 foot
  • Medium ½ inch to 1 foot
  • Small ¼ inch to 1 foot!

One heading called ‘Does it belong’ advises on editing accessories to prevent ‘too much’ going on.  Another useful chapter is called Miniature Garden Maintenance where you can learn tips to preserve your tiny gardens.
