Find the right plates and this can be the easiest, most delightful garden decoration you could ever make! Another great tutorial from Sue Gerdes of Flea2Fab. Simple, simple!
Sue says, “You can find these dishes everywhere (ones with the holes in them) …you don’t have to drill into glass,… just glue! And almost anyone can drill into silverware.”
Here’s how:
“I found these cool plates at a Thrift Store, they have scalloped edges and holes already in them so no drilling into glass.
“I layered them in a pleasing design, the first was the edged plate them a petal plate that looks like a flower. Last was a candle holder.” Sue says
“They are all glued together with GE II Silicone and left to dry overnight. Once it was dried and strong I beaded some 50 lb. weight fishing line and wrapped it around a key ring at the top.”
Get the right glue…so these will be waterproof and weatherproof…
GE II silicone clear Premium Waterproof for $3.98 on Amazon if you can’t find it at a hardware store.
“I found 3 pieces of silverware and drilled a hole in the bottom of them, strung and beaded them and tied them to the holes on the bottom. I made double knots in everything and sometimes tied them twice.”
“Once it was hung up in the tree, I took a little GE II Silicone and went over the knots to give them a little more strength.”
Tip: This is a key ring that I use for the top to hang over the tree limbs or hooks.
