Sissi’s flowery chaise lounge

Trash to absolute treasure!

Sissi snagged this rusty old wire-work lounge, no longer useful for sitting. Her fantasy flower-filled lounge is a cool fresh focal point in her garden, still good as a unique conversation piece!

Simple garden project:

Sissi Wedgwood’s cute flowery lounge

Materials needed:

  • Old wire or wicker chair or lounge
  • Landscape fabric
  • Twine
  • Bungee cords

Plants:

  • Impatiens
  • Sweet potato vines, two colors
  • Creeping Jenny

Sissi Wedgwood says, “This is my old repurposed garden chaise. It’s pretty simple. I bought the chaise for $20 and it was all rusted out. So, when we had the house and fence painted, I had them spray this, too. I wrapped the legs with landscape fabric, secured it with twine and adjustable bungee cords, and then pinched and poked the plant in. Impatiens went in the center, then black and lime sweet potato plants, some creeping jenny and vinca major around the edges.

“The impatiens were fine as cuttings, but now that they are mature, it looks rather like an unmade bed. I’d like for it to be “neater.” In the fall I plan to replace the them with a mixture of Irish or Scotch moss checkerboard for a “flatter” more cushion-like look — and I will pinch and poke more creeping jenny for the edges,” Sissi says.

Sissi did it up good! What a save…the back part of the chaise is still fine and with Sissi’s touch it’s a floral cushioned chaise right out of your dreams! ~~ Sue
