Easy garden craft project
Combining Flea Market items in a creative way is Annie’s Grossart-Steen’s talent. From her workshop, Pondside Primitives in Pennsylvania, she makes this and many other Spring projects to share with her clientele. Get the instructions!
To complete this project, you’ll need:
- A short step ladder
- A birdhouse
- Small flower pot
- A rusty trowel or garden hand tool
- Ivy and flowers in colors to match the flowerpot
- A wooden bird figurine or other decoration
- A grapevine garland
- Paint
1. Paint the flower pot, the stepladder and the birdhouse roof matching color
2. Paint the body of the birdhouse and the bottom of the flower pot to match.
3. Hot glue the flowers and ivy, wind the garland around to finish.
4. Prop up the trowel with a small nail.
This birdhouse ladder would look terrific on a porch or back door entrance. Use a ladder of any height, taller if you use a functional birdhouse. Thanks, Annie for the idea!

Annie, I always seem at a loss on how to wrap grapevine around things and make it look like it should be there…. but with your picture for reference I might be able to pull it off. Thanks for sharing.
love this site!!
I love this idea! The hand carved bird, slated roof & a ladder for a base! Awesome build, Annie!
Have 2 rough, handmade birdhouses made by a dear man who supported me mentally during a bad work period. Houses do not open for cleaning, but I see now how to save them & the memories in a delightful vignette. Thanks for the ideas.
