Shirley’s SHed ANtiques

Come visit an adorable garden junk shop in Washington state

An avid Flea Market Gardener, Shirley Fletcher, proprietor of SHed ANtiques near Marysville, Washington, runs a small junk shop with a lot of funky charm. Potting tables, wagon wheels and galvanized buckets and milk cans are arranged artlessly around the front door, hung with bittersweet.

She says, “I love anything rusty and worn in my garden and this olde wagon just fits the bill!  I filled it with dirt and some Creeping Thyme, Thymus ‘Tasha’ and Thrift, Armeria maritima, for some pink color, then added the lil’ birdhouse and covered all with sheet moss. This wagon has bloomed for me now for 8 years straight!”

Shirley’s “Welcome Wagon” planter

A charming ‘Welcome Wagon’ planter greets you upon arriving at SHed ANtiques…

“Just some water here and there in the dead of summer and I trim back the creeping thyme in fall…. she is pretty cute and makes me and everyone smile as they pull into the drive and see my lil’ greeter.. I think a rusty wheel barrow would be cute too!!  Blessings and happy spring gardening!”

Now that we’re here, let’s explore a little further….

“Sweet Annie wreaths! Find them here in the fall. Smells like heaven,” Shirley says.   Sweet Annie is Artemisia annua, also called Sweet Wormwood.
